Financial Counselling is to assist those who need a little bit of help with their money. Financial counsellors are able to listen to your financial issues, and assess the problems as well as assist you with finding an appropriate solution for your situation.
Financial counsellors are able to assist with:
- Bills that you’re having problems paying, or are overdue
- Fines
- If you’re being harassed by debt collectors
- Possible disconnections, like phone, gas or electricity
- Being evicted
- Debts with the tax department
- Car accidents with no insurance
If you’re facing legal action, please seek legal assistance. Financial counsellors are not lawyers, and cannot assist with legal issues. If you need legal assistance, but cannot afford it, please speak to Legal Aid or Shoalcoast Community Legal Centre.
The sooner you can speak with a financial counsellor the better, there may be more options available if you do.
